OG Headband & 707 Headband From Delta 9 (Merkaba)

4

We don’t normally have reviews that are comparison in nature, but I thought this one was interesting.  And beautiful.  All at the same time.  Make sure to note that there are pics of both strains.

OG Headband

Submitted By: Merkaba (Member and Editor)

Camera Used: Olympus FE-46

Name: OG Headband

From: Delta-9 (DispensaryTorrance)

Grade: A-

Type: Hybrid – I’m unsure of the breakdown, but this batch is balanced a little Headband dominant, it seems.  Stony all around whether it’s in the mind or body.  Both indica and sativa are highly evident.

Genetics: (OG Kush x Master Kush x Sour Diesel) x OG Kush; is what it sounds like, but that would be a backcross?  It may be just an OG dominate phenotype of Headband.

Price: $18/gram, $55/8th

Looks: Very tight and compact bract and calyx structure.  Very generous trichome development on all plant material surfaces.  The pistils are a very light, vibrant orange color.  The plant material surfaces are almost olive green in color, but totally masked by the abundance of milky trichomes.

Smell: Smells totally Headband dominant at first, but a subtle lemony OG hint can be detected with a keen nose.  The OG smell could be more prominent in the mix, but the buttery skunk funk of the Headband is equally as interesting to a refined sense of smell.

Taste: Headband dominant on the inhale, changes to a nice hashy OG to finish up with a buttery, foody HB taste on the exhale.  This herb has what I like to refer to as “chameleon taste” where the taste is changing shapes and palates all to your delight. (Smoking out of my new Sheldon Black bubbler; not too clean, but the not dirtiest it’s been since I’ve had it.)

Buzz Type: A total hybrid high.  It’s really up AND REALLY stony; slightly narcotic as well.  This and more so the 707 Headband I’ve been getting recently have been helping me tremendously with common appetite stimulation issues I experience often.  Headband helps me grub down hard.  It’s a pretty positive buzz as well – making all perceptions really high and light hearted.

Buzz Length: MediumLong; I have a high tolerance, and smoke often.  This OG Headband really has the lengthy high I’ve been searching for with no immediate burn out – but common use will build a tolerance after a couple weeks like any other exceptional strain.  So enjoy, but I wouldn’t indulge for too long.

Overall: I must say I’ve fallen in love with the Headband genotype.  It’s definitely one I plan on keeping up with as time goes on.  Aesthetically, the OG Headband I have is more appealing than the 707 Headband I had available, but I have to love the 707 a little more cause of the butteriness of it all, and I just like the potency better.  I just cant dig it enough.

This batch of OG Headband probably could have been cured a little better to enhance the potency of the OGness of it overall, so I gave it an A-.  Long live the Headband!  –Merkaba

Master Kush – Frosty goodness.

Master Pure Kush – I don’t think it’s possible to go wrong with this strain.

Super OG Master Kush – Leave it to Vaporizer to keep his finger on the pulse of Los Angeles.

OG Master Kush 1 – Definitely pricey.  Has this dispensary’s pricing gone down at all?

As usual, killer bud with a very informative review. Recently, picked up my first batch of Headband. Extremely potent which I would give to the OG and Sour, and the lengthiness to the Master. Very medicinal. Good stuff!

Thanks for posting my complicated review! I know cannabis users have a good habit of making easy things complicated hahaha- and a correction, the 707 was from the Green Cross. I definitely would love to get my hands on some of both of these cuts and flower ‘em outdoors under the CA sun! Thanks again guys, hope ya dig.

The OG Headband looks fantastic. I’ve puffed original headband before and I must say, I LOVED IT! Smell, taste, high were excellent. Everything you could want in a strain. Glad you enjoyed these and great review! Peace.

Merkaba do just that let em flower under the Cali Sun, take advantage of your resources. As for the reviews, I just can’t dig em enough.

    OK, got a question: What’s the difference (genetically) between O.G. H.B and 707 H.B.?

@ QWheezer- I do not necessarily believe there is a drastic genetic difference between the two; my assumption about the OGHB is that is may either be just an OG dominate variation of Headband, or it could be backcrossed into OG? but I doubt that. As for the 707 I was told it’s genetics are slightly different than HB. Which might make sense cause I’ve heard of HB being one genetic equation, 707 another, and OG- ya, what I assume.

Got a HB cutting under our super powerful CA sun as a matter o fact. Not the 707 I don’t think , we will see I guess tho… The 707 seems to hve red/orAnge hairs while other HB I’ve seen like the OG HB above seem to have lighter yellowish hairs although both seem to retAin the same if not almost the same mug structure.. It’s all good but my favorite is 707 :) .

Let’s not start naming strains with area codes in front of the names please its just ridiculous and way too much to remember 707 is an exception because the strain has been around for a while..both these sound fire tho, headband is a very stoney strain for sure.

I believe 707 is the same as Humbolt Headband (that’s their area code) and I *think* it’s SD x OGK

The 707 Headband was originally a clone-only strain that made its way to Amsterdam and to the breeders at DNA Genetics. Once there, they reverse engineered the 707 and came up with the blending of OG and sour d. They considered this cross to resemble the original 707. As told by Ed Rosenthal in the Big Book of Buds 4.

from what I understand headband 707 = og kush x sour diesel x sour diesel

Hey this is a little old review but Merkaba knows about the real headband..this in the pix is the 707 which is a sour d/og cross but the true headband was masterx(ogxdiesel). The daywrecker east coast hb has diesel, sensi star and nl in it I think. Oh well. I'd love to see some pix of the original headband thats leans og/master..does it still exist? This is a fine example of the 707 (diesel pheno) tho..
