Blue Dream Nerrl – Homemade (Irie_Mountain_Rx)

5

I wouldn’t mind packing up a travel rig, hiking up to whever Irie is in that last picture, and smoking some of this BD oil!  This is Irie_Mountain_Rx’s first home made concentrate.  What do you guys think?  –Tokeahontas

Camera Used:
Canon t2i
Strain Name:
Blue Dream Oil (vector butane)
Genetics:
Not sure. I've always been curious to find out the genetics of this way overgrown strain.
From:
Nugs were from private dealer and I blasted right around a eighth.
Rating:
5.
For what this is (My first attempt at bho) it is definitely a AAA. The terpenes are preserved wonderfuly by the stable oil.
Type:
Concentrate. Very stable and sappy. I just use my fingernail to pinch off a nice glob. It gets very sticky and oily when heated up. At room temp it is shatter, but once the dabber works it a little bit, trying to get a dab off it is slightly more sap-like.
Price G:
I paid $35 for an eighth of blue dream and $5 for a can of vector 5x.
Looks:

This is a golden brown shatter.  My fingerprint stays on the surface of the glassy looking concentrate when I play with it.  I’m not a concentrate expert but I would consider this to be shatter.  It is not totally glass but it is a very stable oil.

Smell:

The scent has a very faint tart sweetness.  The sweetness is on top of the tartness of the Blue Dream.  There’s not much of a smell which I hear is good because it means the terpenoids have been trapped within.  It’s probably a little more than a 1, more like a 1.5 on the smell strength scale.

Taste:

I am very impressed and pleased with the taste of this.  When making this I did not whip it on my hot water bath but I used my torch to pop the bubbles.  Sounds sketchy but it’s all about the distance.  It just takes a little heat to pop the bubbles.

Buzz Type:

A very strong buzz that has an almost narcotic impairment/laziness that really makes it hard to get a good train of thought going.  It just makes it hard for you to express what you’re thinking outside of yourself.  It’s a hard and weird thing to explain but it’s quite pleasurable and euphoric.  I think the Montana genetics of BD have a lot more indica in them.

Buzz Length:

A good 2 and a half hours off 2 dabs.  There’s a very small comedown– not really much at all.  I would describe it as a slight grogginess for about another 30 minutes.  Depending on how many dabs, 3 hours of euphoric stoniness may occur.

Overall:

I’m very excited with this, as it was my first run ever and I only used a small amount of herb.  I can’t wait to run another batch with some more material!  I am now a believer in a quality medicinal bho without going through a vac.  It just takes a lil’ hard work.  One love peace n pot hope y’all enjoyed the review.  If anyone has any questions about my method feel free to ask, I will be happy to explain it the best I can.  –Irie_Mountain_Rx

Thanks for sharing and KILLER last pic – I also blast is small quantities and find the product is more clean as opposed to a big tube where butane has to sit and travel and then picks up some unwanted impurities.

its more that larger quantities of oil take much longer… I don't believe people complete a proper purge, especially with larger runs.

I believe Hashmasta-Kut's way is a hot water bath (bring to near boil and remove from heat) and do a covered hot water bath for 20-30 mins 2 – 3 times per gram of oil. Hahah. I doubt anyone is purging their 4-5 gram runs for 5-7 hours with constant attention… Which means in between heating the water, running a light torch over the top to pop the butane bubbles that have made their way to the top and also help to keep it warm. Anyway, practice makes perfect.

he recommends covering your pyrex with a lid or plate of some sort to trap the heat in, it allows the concentrate to heat more evenly, especially the thicker and more dense it is.

        FYI
Pyrex is terrible for heat distribution; glass is an insulator. You'd be better off using silicone for the final purge.

well that's why the covering is necessary to trap the hot air in to better distribute the heat through your concentrate. It makes a really noticeable difference in the length of time it takes to soften back up and bubble up. I mean the butane wants to escape so the bubble should be rising the top, but if the top is still solid or thick it will keep the butane bubbles trapped inside. So you may be up just over eating it and still not properly purging your oil.

Silicone? I would be hesitant to scrape off that with anything. However, due to its flexibility, I could see you could bend it underneath and in a way peel off the oil, but only if it is proper and stable. Also, what about the toxicity of it with heat being directly applied. I have seen silicone bakeware and such, but they are not directly exposed to an element ( I guess you would have it in a water bath), but how would the material react to constant heat being applied. I would be worrying about something leeching out. I will have to research this further as I am unaware of how safe silicone would be. If I am interpreting your suggestion correctly.

      Right?!
I'm still shocked how many times / how long you can vac an oil and it''ll still have tane in it…

its possible to get great bho without a vac but is harder, and great review nice looking stuff for a first run… try n find a different butane vector isn’t the cleanest and their probably one of the most expensive

      Allow me…

Vac or no vac, you are doing the same thing. Vac just lowers atmospheric pressure, which brings down the temps that are necessary to purge your oil properly, but keep in mind, it also lowers, in the same way – the temps that will also damage your oil. The physics applies in the same way to both what you are trying to do and also avoid..

ugggh, this has been discussed over and over. I don't get why people are so dense sometimes and stuck on unnecessary ideals.

Nice job for your first blast! Besides all the talk of purging methods. I would also suggest small runs and make sure the tube is packed. I have seen a huge difference in yield from these two factors alone. Really though, good job!

Blue dream is blueberry x Santa Cruz haze but there are cuts that have super silver haze crossed to them instead.
